Power of Personal Commitment

Through my 20 years or more working as a project manager, business consultant, and as an executive life coach, I have experienced individuals who might have the best of intentions to make certain changes in their life, yet they do not follow through on their decisions.  They may even get frustrated when they think and say they are committed to wanting something for themselves, but no real action with conviction follows that voice of commitment.

The word “commitment” is the key to succeeding with any plan ultimately resulting in reaching our personal goals. It is also true when we fully commit to something, action always follows thought. There is no question, no debate, no doubt, or struggle. We do not wonder whether we will take action or not.

The power of commitment goes beyond making a choice, and people gain a mysterious strength and resolve when they make a commitment. Think about it, when we are merely interested in doing something, we do it only when circumstances permit.

However, when we allow the power of commitment to be part of the equation, we accept no excuses, only results that will support us to overcome blocks, challenges, and experience the reward of the life we want. The power of commitment is a unique personal experience. As an Executive-Life Coach, I offer my coaching clients many possible commitment strategies, yet the best personal style of commitment comes from a deep emotional awareness within my coaching clients.

Often our commitments are invisible to us and we do not think about them as commitments, it is what we do naturally. And that is the whole point. Nevertheless, with the power of commitment, we are at liberty to do the work to approach life from objective reality.  However, without it—our ego or inner saboteur will interfere. That is, we will always be struggling against something, and the gifts of our authentic 'Self' will haunt our days and may undermine all our toiling. With commitment, we are at liberty to become (intentionally) the mental architect of our own personal transformation.

This is the moment to seize the immeasurable power of commitment and remember, we are not the limited ‘self’ we hear about from our inner chatter (limiting beliefs). We are the magnificent, powerful human beings who are completely at choice in every moment to stand in our passion, follow our dreams, and have the life we desire.

Well, if we want to follow our dreams, and have the life we desire, we may also want to radically shed the shackles of our past and stay on the beam of transformational change. This is where we will find the commitment to move past our hurtful history and find the life underneath our life situation.

If we do not exercise this power, nothing happens in our life – at least not what we truly want. And, when we stay on the beam of transformational change, we question the integrity of our beliefs and know that transformational change is our destiny to genuinely attain the life we want.

We actively take 100% responsibility for our life, shift limiting beliefs, and bring ourselves to the highest possible emotional quality of life.  Then, we can BREAK OUT of the old mold that has kept us from making a greater commitment to follow our dreams and having the life we desire. It is true that the road to transformational change can be thrilling to watch take form.

Transformational change means finding the power of commitment to eliminate the ego from the equation, and the distractions that have been keeping us from exploring what gives our life meaning, purpose, and inner fulfillment.

Transformational change also means overcoming fear through accountability, strengthening our emotional intelligence, and penetrating self-awareness to keep the characters of our ego-self at bay or under control.  It is a call to let go of the fear of the unknown, the fear of success, and even the fear of commitment.

In the heart of self-improvement, people gain a mysterious strength and resolve when they make a personal commitment to develop flexibility of mind which admits the sunlight of their authentic selves to the darker corners of their mind. The power to do this work is not with fear but with expectancy, not by duress but with conviction, not through mediocrity but through excellence, not through compulsion but in a state of conscious recognition and receptivity.

This work calls for us to emerge into the 'Enlightened Self' by fueling our determination, tenacity, our dedication, and our power of COMMITMENT to work our way out of the safety of the cocoon of our beliefs and escape the confinement of limitations.

It is also crucial through the power of commitment, we establish a platform of stability and resolve to do the work that supports the removal of the illusion of “I know ....”, the engagement of better planning, and the exploration of the right questions that will move us into the right actions as the main characters in the dramatic production of our life.

Nevertheless, make no mistake, the process of emerging into the 'Enlightened Self' requires our dedication and personal commitment to accept the help we need to bring our words and actions into alignment with the life we want. The questions remain:

  1. What are the requirements to follow our dreams, and have the life we desire?

  2. What would we gain in the heart of self-improvement as we emerge into the 'Enlightened Self'?

  3. Who would benefit if we made a greater commitment to follow our dreams, and have the life we desire?

With this in mind, I trust we will accept the above questions as an exclusive invitation to gain vital insights into seeking a new course where we will do the work to remove the beliefs that are sabotaging us from choosing the power of commitment and the pathway to discover the key to experiencing the life we want.
